Caroline Hendrie is executive director of the Education Writers Association, the national professional organization dedicated to advancing education journalism. She leads strategy, development and programming for the nonprofit organization in support of its mission to increase the quantity and quality of education coverage to create a better-informed public. A graduate of Wesleyan University, Caroline was an award-winning education journalist for more than two decades, with experience covering education from early learning through postsecondary schooling at the local, state, and national levels. From 1996 to 2010, she held various reporting and editing positions at Education Week, America’s newspaper and website of record for K-12 education, ending her tenure as managing editor. Since she joined EWA in June 2010, EWA has experienced robust growth as it works to build members’ knowledge and skills through training, high-quality reporting resources, individualized support, and recognition for exemplary coverage.
