Hugh Eakin is a senior editor at and frequent contributor to The New York Review of Books. He has a special interest in human rights and refugees, and has reported on the international response to the refugee crises during the Iraq war (2005-2008) and the current conflict in Syria for The New York Review. His reporting on the Syrian crisis is included in a new book, Flight from Syria: Refugee Stories, published this month by the Pulitzer Center. He has taught at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and his work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Spectator, among other publications. He holds degrees from Harvard University and Cambridge University.
