Since joining the magazine in 2010 as senior associate editor, Hanson has covered a range of topics, including the emergent Turkish art market, an artist collective in Kyoto, resurgent sales of American art, and trends in contemporary photography, and has profiled collectors, dealers, and artists for both Blouin Art+Auction and Modern Painters. Prior to her arrival at LBM, Hanson was an editor at Assouline, the French visual books publisher, where she spearheaded a variety of art, design, fashion, and lifestyle titles, and from 2005 to 2008 she served at ARTnews magazine. A native of Bloomington, Indiana, Hanson holds a B.A. in English from Vassar College.
“It is an honor to be entrusted with this respected brand,” says Hanson. “More than ever, the market is an inescapable force in the art world. In this superheated environment, the best services we can provide our readers are context and connoisseurship. I look forward to building a team of experts who can bring real insight not only to the auction market, but also to primary and private sales, as well as a critical eye to the trends roiling the industry.”
